Favorite Hair Products + How I Curl My Hair

Hello friends and happy Wednesday! I am extra excited to share today's post with you all as it's all about my favorite products from shampoo and conditioner all the way to my favorite curling wand. My most asked questions are about my hair, so I hope y'all find this helpful today :) I will also be curling my hair over on Instagram stories today, so that y'all can see just how I do that. If you miss it today, no worries! I will save it to my highlights under "curls" so you can access it whenever you want.

Before we jump into the products, I wanted to mention a few things. First of all, I have a ver\y fine hair texture! Before I cur my hair short, my hair would never ever hold curl. And even now with it short, I have to use a good bit of product in order for it to thicken up some and curl well. I also feel that my hair curls best when it's on the dirty side. I usually wash my hair two times a week (hello dry shampoo!) and that helps with holding curl. I'll usually wear it straight the day I was it and then curl its the days following. That just tends to work best, but I know everyone's hair is different.

Favorite Hair Products + How I Curl My Hair - Something Delightful Blog

Shampoo & Conditioner

For shampoo and conditioner, I have a more expensive one I love and also a less expensive. Here's why! With only washing my hair twice a week, I'm not using as much shampoo and conditioner, therefore I'd rather invest in a really great one since not using as much. I so use a less expensive as well for the in betweens, if needed. My very favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Caviar Anti Aging Replenishing Moisture shampoo and conditioner. Let me just say, they're amazing!!! My hair has never felt so healthy and replenished after using this set. Especially in the summer when I was out in the sun so much, this stuff did wonders for my hair! It smells amazing, and my hair has never felt so soft after using them. I also love that it has UV protection and protection for color-treated hair as well.

As for the less expensive, I have LOVED this UnWind Gloss Boss set by Hask. First of all, the white wine smells AMAZING! Seriously unlike any other I've ever smelt. Sometimes in the shower, I'll smell it just for fun hahaha. I love the color shine shampoo and conditioner. They really do add so much shine! They come in a few different scents and have a shampoo and conditioner to repair, protect color and more, if that's what you're looking for.

Dry Shampoo

I'm a firm believer in a great dry shampoo! That is the key to going with a limited washing cycle, I feel. I am also a huge fan of Bumble and Bumble products. This one does a great job at making my hair feel "clean". It also smells amazing!!! It doesn't leave a residue and turn your hair white. It also serves as a UV protectant from the sun. And also is a two-in-one to add texture and volume, which I love!

Priming Sprays

Continuing on with my love for B&B products, I also use one of these spays. I will normally spray them in my hair when damp and before drying them (before adding in mouse). I am normally focusing on thickening up my hair to add some volume, so I'll use the Bumble and Bumble thickening spray which works wonders for my fine hair texture! This paired with a great mouse is a match made for thickening up hair! It is said to create "lasting lift and volume" which is just what it does, I feel. I will sometimes use the tonic lotion primer as well, which I love. This one more of primes your hair as a heat protectant, not necessarily to add volume. But I love it as well. Again, it is not going to thicken but it will help detangle and just kind go overall refresh and help protect your hair.

For Straight Hair

If you're looking for a product that will truly feel nourishing and replenishing to your hair! I don't use this one as much since my hair texture is fine. But if you've been out in the sun and your hair just feels like you need something that will truly rescue it, this stuff is amazing! It is also a great heat protectant if you want to use it for that purpose but it leaves your hair feeling silky smooth. It isn't as ideal for curling your hair and I don't mix it with the thickening spray I mentioned above. But it is great! I use this product all by itself when using it.

My Favorite Mousse

I switched to using this mouse about three months ago and absolutely love it! The Redken Full Frame Volumizing mousse does absolutely everything you'd want it to do. Thickens, adds texture, adds tons of volume...it's amazing! I had been using a Bumble and Bumble mousse but for some reason, they switched up the formula causing it to not work as well. So I switched to this after reading some reviews and just love it so much! When getting out of the shower, I'll always let my hair air dry for a bit so that the product can fully work (I feel that if there's a lot of water in your hair, it doesn't work to its full potential). I then spray the thickening spray mentioned above then add about a quarter size of this mousse all throughout my hair (starting at the roots and pulling in an upward motion then continuing the product down to the ends). The thickening spray paired with the mousse is seriously the ultimate duo!

Texture & Volume Sprays

Now for my favorite part! Just a heads up, these products I'm about to mention are my highly recommended, biggest game changer, most amazing products of all. I love both of these. But the Bumble and Bumble thickening dry spun finish spray does just that. It adds an amazing thickness and texture to your hair. It's a great finishing spray and can also serve as a hairspray. I feel like this one truly does the job with thickening. The other one I absolutely  LOVE and just started using is the Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast spray. Again, amazing!! I do feel that this one focuses more on volume rather than texture. If you spray it into your roots and kind of massage it into your hair, it truly will add SO much lift to your hair. It's like magic. I do feel that the B&B smells better than the Living Proof. But they're both awesome! I also feel like if you spray the living proof and then brush your hair, it will kind of brush the product out, defeating the purpose, so definitely keep that in mind! The B&B tends to "stick" to your hair more, if you will. Currently, I'd probably say that I love the Living Proof right now. But I'm still a huge fan of the B&B dry spun finish as well.

Hairsprays

My favorite hairspray for over two years and counting is the Bumble and Bumble strong finish hairspray. This stuff is AWESOME! I love that it is a strong hold and adds just enough hold without it looking "stuck" if that makes sense. I hate it when my hair looks like it's stuck in position and can't move. So I highly recommend this spray. And as always, I like to give a more affordable option. My favorite affordable hairspray is the Tres Two Extra Hold Hairspray.

Curling Wand

Last but certainly not least, my curling wand! Probably the most asked question about my hair, what wand do I use. Well, this is it! I purchased this baby the day after I got my hair cut short (June 2016), and it is still what I say is one of the best purchase decisions I've ever made! Still works like a charm and I couldn't do without it! The T3 Whirl Trio Curling Wand Set is truly amazing. I use the 1 inch barrel attachment for my hair. I have tried using the larger however it doesn't work as well with my short, fine hair (tighter, smaller curls are key!). I honestly have never tried out the tapered barrel but do need to play around with it some. I'm glad I have the set for options, but if you want to cut back on the cost, you can just purchase the Convertible Base and the one inch barrel. But as the barrels count $95 each, you definitely get a great deal with the whirl trio for just a bit more. I seriously couldn't recommend this wand enough if you're looking for a great one to invest in!

Well that's about it for the products I use! I hope y'all found that to be helpful. As always, let me know if y'all have any questions :) Thanks for stopping by!

Madeline: Mustard Cardigan (Under $20) // Olive Green Jeggings // Sparkle Booties // Bow (25% off with code "MADELINEBOWS") // Cat Purse

Hope y'all are having a GREAT Tuesday :) Yay for a new week! If you've been following along since last year, I did a fun styling last fall where I paired two of my favorite colors together: mustard yellow and olive green! It ended up being one of my most popular posts last fall, and I truly loved it so much. After that, I developed a love for pairing all my favorite fall colors together. Mauve paired with burgundy, olive paired with mustard, burgundy paired with mustard and more. Don't be afraid to pair all the fall hues together this season, because it can really make for SUCH a fun look.

Today's post is a look featuring just that! And what's even better is that we've got a look for both women and kids. Our pieces are affordable as well! My sweater is such a pretty one, and of course I just love the color. With the texture of this one, I did wear a nude bandeau underneath it. It's TTS, and I'm wearing the size XS, for reference (I'm 5'2). I also wanted to me mention my jeans as they're one of my favorite Target style finds ever! They're under $30, so soft and SO good! I also love that they come in short (wearing the 0 short, for reference). My hat is an Amazon find and only $12!!

As for Madeline's pieces, the Old Navy jeggings are some of my favorite for Madeline as they're super soft and hold up so well! I also love that they have an adjustable waist. Her cardigan is also a great one that's under $20. And her hair bow is from my all time favorite Etsy shop that has the prettiest colors! The owner (Melissa) is beyond awesome and just created the cutest leopard print bows (see them here, here and here) for Madeline that she's now offering to everyone! Y'all can save 25% off of them with the code "MADELINEBOWS" :)

I hope y'all have the best Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by.

With that being said, my cardigan (it's only $17.99), Madeline's cardigan, her leopard tee and her ruffle hem culottes are all included in that sale! They're all amazing pieces, and I've found so many great fall finds for both Madeline and myself from H&M, so I encourage y'all to check their stuff out with the sale :)

I also wanted to talk about my hat that's an under $20 one and so so perfect for fall! I have it in two colors, and it comes in about ten colors! The quality is pretty amazing, if you're looking for a great, yet affordable fall hat. My leopard print tee is also super affordable, coming in at $13. It's a great fall layering piece.

Next up, I want to mention my shoes! They're #TargetStyle, and I have gotten so much wear out of them already! I love that they give the the bootie style look however they're slip-ons like mules. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry to get dressed and out the door, they seriously come to the rescue haha! They also come in snake and black. TTS and SUCH a great shoe!

Well that's about it on the details for today's look. I hope this gave y'all some fun outfit inspo for the upcoming season. Have a great Friday!

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Summer 2019: Tips & Tricks for Shopping the Sale + Sizing Guide on Pieces Included

Hello friends and fellow Lilly lovers!! If you're checking out today's post, I'm pretty sure you are just as excited as I am about the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale that begins TOMORROW 9/9 at 8AM-ish EST. If you are a fellow Lilly lover and have shopped the sale before, I'm sure you're aware of why it's such a big deal.

Y'all know that I love affordable pieces, but Lilly Pulitzer is one of the only clothing brands I'll splurge on. However, THIS SALE, is your chance to grab up Lilly for crazy affordable prices. We're talking dresses that are normally $160 on sale for under $60. Little girls' dresses that are normally $60 on sale for under $30. I know our hearts may be ready for fall clothing, but buy up Lilly now and save it for later! Lilly never goes out of style - it's a classic and for me, every Lilly dress I own has a special story behind it. I grew up wearing little Lilly dresses, even began this blog off of my love for Lilly and discovered a whole new, special love for it once Madeline came along and all the mommy and me twinning began :) No one does mommy and me quite like Lilly!

So today, I am going to be covering some important things to help you be prepared to shop first thing tomorrow. First up, I will be sharing the dates and times you need to know. Next up, I'll share a few important tips and tricks for successfully shopping the sale (trust me, there's a method to this madness!). And I will also be sharing a peek at all the pieces I've purchased this season that will be included in the sale. I will be sharing all the sizing details, which are super important to note with all items being final sale. Let's get started!

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Summer 2019: Tips & Tricks for Shopping the Sale + Sizing Guide on Pieces Included - Something Delightful Blog

Dates & Times:

The After Party Sale will begin Monday 9/9 around 8M EST and will run through Wednesday 9/11

Tips & Tricks for Shopping the Sale:

Set up an account:
1. If you don't already have an account set up on Lilly, do it now(you can set one up here)! With the sale being such a, fast-pace process and items selling out quickly you don't want to be setting up an account as you're trying to purchase the items on your list. Be sure to do as many things you can ahead of time :) It's also important to make sure your login info, billing/shipping address, payment method, etc. are all up to date and ready to go, so all you have to do when checking out it click, click and click!

The Virtual Line:
2. Remember, this sale goes by a VIRTUAL LINE! When you enter into the sale, you will be placed in a virtual line. So not be surprised if you are number 52,642 in line haha (I have been at 80,000+ before). The good news is that the line usually moves pretty quickly, and even though it may quote you with an hour plus wait time, don't freak out because it never tends to be as long as they quote. Also, whatever you do, don't refresh the page!!! If you do this, you will loose your spot in line.

Open a page ahead of time:
3. Have the page ready to go! I have found in the past that if I go ahead and open a tab to Lilly the night before, I feel like I usually get bumped up a little in the line. Set your alarm to have that page up around 7:50AM EST and just watch the page (again, don't refresh). When the sale starts, your page will automatically put you in line. So go ahead and open a tab now for the sale :)

Know what you're shopping for:
4. Know what you're looking for ahead of time! Remember that you will see pretty much everything in the sale: shift dresses, formal dresses, casual dresses, tops, shorts, skirts, accessories, pieces for kids and more! Make a little list of what you're looking for in the sale ahead of time. Maybe you're a bride-to-be looking for the perfect white dress. Are you wanting to buy some shift dresses for next spring and summer? Maybe you're headed on a tropical vacay soon and want a new dress to wear. Lilly also usually has some great cardigans for fall in the APS. SO, go ahead and think of what you're looking for.

Shop simultaneously, fast and throughout the days:
5. It's also important to remember that one, you can shop simultaneously! If you are determined to grab one certain item, go ahead and open a tab on a few devices so that you can shop simultaneously to grab the items you're wanting. It's also very important to remember to shop fast! Even though I've heard that the inventory it pretty stocked and they're expecting things to not sell out quite as quickly this time around, it's important to know what you want, know your size and shop quickly. You can also place as many orders as you'd like! Shop throughout the day, the next day and even again on Wednesday if you want haha. Lilly will be adding new surprise items to the sale on Tuesday and Wednesday as well :)

Whew did I miss anything? These are the tips I have found to be helpful in the past. And be sure to check out Lilly's FAQs page for more!

Pieces Included in the Summer 2019 APS (along with sizing details:)

Now, I'm going to go through the items I own and have shared with y'all that will be included in the summer 2019 After Party Sale! How do I know? Well, days leading up to the sale, Lilly tends to remove the inventory that will be included in the sale. I mean how is it that an item was fully stocked days ago and all of the sudden is completely sold out? See what I mean? :) This has been the case time and time again, and it always holds to be true. So that's why I have a hunch that all of these will be included. Also remember that all sales are final so it is important to know your size. I will also be sharing the sizing details to each of these pieces.
