Hello friends! I can't believe we are here to the final day of 2017. And here I am writing my final post of the year to share with y'all. What a year it has been! It seems to have been a crazy whirlwind of emotions. Today as we say goodbye to 2017 and prepare to welcome in 2018, I only see it fitting to re-cap my year a bit, as I have done the past two years.

I began contemplating what I was going to say in this post. I started reflecting on 2017 and thinking about what I overcame, what I accomplished, and so on. In all honestly, I felt as if there is nothing too  exciting to report. Basically, I kept on keeping on...with my studies for my program, with running my blog and of course being a mama was my main focus. Don't get me wrong, there were many ups and downs, heartaches, frustrations, celebrations, so many fun moments and so much more throughout the year, but the overall picture didn't seem to give much of a report. I feel as if my life pretty much hit a standstill.

Y'all know that my blog is overall my place to share my love for fashion. But y'all also may know that my relationship with my Savior is what keeps me going on a daily basis. I always want to be up front with those who follow along on this journey with me, and I truly believe that sharing my life behind the veil of simply what I love to wear is very important. I want to be up front with y'all and connect with y'all, because in all honesty, I have built some of the best relationships through running my little space on the internet. I love hearing from y'all whether it's through my blog or my social channels. I feel it is so important to let y'all know what's going on in my life because, well, how am I to connect if I don't share? My life is far from perfect, and that is something I feel is necessary to make clear through sharing my struggles, what else is going on in my life and most importantly how the Lord has carried me through. I've always said, if I can touch just one person's life, all of the effort put forth is completely worth it to me.

With all of that being said, I have to say that this year I have felt probably the most unorganized that I have ever felt in my entire life. I tried to keep everything going in the most organized manner as I possibly could, but it felt as if I was accomplishing things "just in time." I cut out sleep like I never have before this year, I continuously questioned if I would be able to make it through each semester of school, especially this last one (taking on six classes at once was a bit overwhelming). I constantly questioned if I was doing the right thing, making the right decisions, and so much more. Overall, I felt overwhelmed, extremely overwhelmed. I felt like even though I gave everything my best shot, it never was as much as I wished I could have given. But then it hit me...

The grace that God offers us is such a beautiful thing. There is something so marvelous about how when we are at our lowest times, He is there to comfort us and bring our tired, weary selves right back to our feet. He knows our hearts. He knows our struggles. He knows our ambitions. There have been times where I have felt as though I had failed, but through simply reciting a portion of His Word, I felt replenished and reminded myself to keep on keeping on. It was simply a reminder to continue holding my Heavenly Father's hand through this walk of life. So, in 2018 I am going to constantly remind myself that things don't have to be "perfect" and not to use "perfection" as a way to measure if I have succeeded or not. I am going to stop doubting my decisions. As long as I'm doing the very best of my ability and walking with the Lord, I am going to trust things will work out in His perfect way.

So with all of this, I feel as though this year, I was truly learning what it meant to cherish the little things. My greatest joy in life is being the mama to my precious Madeline. This little girl stole my heart the second I laid eyes on her, and I continue to fall more and more in love with her each passing day. This year especially, I feel as though her personality has come to life. She is full of spunk, knows a little too much haha, and has the sweetest, most caring little heart. She is pure joy! The bond we share is so special, and I don't know what I would do without her. Her little smile, the things she comes out with, her sweet hugs and so much more are what keep me going. Everything I do is for her. This year especially, through the messiness of life, she has made it so very beautiful. She has made it special. She has made me realize that even though things may not be perfect, there is so much to smile about. What I look forward to most of all in 2018 and every year after that is having the privilege to be her mama, teaching her to walk with the Lord and continuing to cherish all of the joy she brings as she grows.

So as I said, this standstill feeling, as I felt I had hit this year, started to get to me. I think it's natural to say that we always look forward to the next big thing. We love to know when the next exciting event is going to happen! It's so funny how we can sit here and plan out how we'd like for our lives to play out. I'll pray continuously over what I hope for in life, and when it doesn't seem to be happening, I start to grow weary and feel a bit hopeless. There's that constant struggle of feeling like you need to have the next ten years of your life figured out right now! But I'm so thankful that I don't have to figure out how my life will go as I can trust both mine and Madeline's lives to the hands of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Because friends, I truly believe that his plan for our lives is exceedingly, abundantly more than all we could ask or think. I'm so very thankful that he knows the plans he has for us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). And it is through this that I find so much comfort. But there's an overall lesson that I have come to realize through this season of standstill, not knowing what to do next, etc.

I was talking to my Mama about some of these things the other day. I was telling her about how I was planning this post and felt as if I had nothing to "report" about my year. I was explaining to her this standstill feeling. Y'all also know how much I love my Mama and cherish the bond we have. She is my go-to, my best friend. As she was listening to me and hearing all that I had to say, it came to me. I had been feeling this but it was until I was talking about it to my Mama that the words actually came out. Two words. Two words that have such a powerful meaning, "Be still." I told her that I truly feel as if the Lord is telling me to simply be still. In this season of life where I feel as though all I can do is keep on keeping on, not knowing what is going to come about next, I feel as though the Lord has placed these words on my heart. Through the overwhelming yet beautiful moments of life, he is saying to simply be still. And that right there is what I am to hold near to my heart.

And isn't is so amazing how the Lord lets little things to happen which allow us to see his hand at work? That makes things just seem...right? Just minutes after I had this conversation with my Mama and the words "be still" were so fresh on my mind, we started to sort through our church Christmas cards that we had yet to open and read. Each year, my church sends out a Christmas card list, and you can simply drop off your cards to be sorted out to each person/family. Well, going through the ones to myself and Madeline and these two words being placed on my heart, a card from one of our dear friends had Psalm 46:10 displayed on the front. Those very two words, "be still", were right there in front of me. Just realizing how much those words seemed so relevant to my life and then seeing them right there printed in front of me certainly brought tears to my eyes. I truly believe that wasn't a coincidence. And then the very next morning, I opened my Bible. And can you guess what portion of Scripture my Bible opened up to? If you guessed Psalm 46, then you guessed correctly. There was no bookmark placed on that page. It simply opened up to that. There were the words right there, "be still." Again, I don't believe that that simply happened by accident. I truly believe there is a much bigger explanation behind those two little instances that have permanently stamped Psalm 46 and the words "Be still" onto my heart for 2018.

NYE: Reflecting on 2017 - Something Delightful Blog
NYE: Reflecting on 2017 - Something Delightful Blog

So, I say all of this, because as I said before, if I can touch just one person's heart, then writing all of this out was totally worth it. If you're going though a time of life where you feel as if all you're doing is keeping on keeping on, keep up the good work! What happens next is not for us to stress over. We can't figure it all our right here, right now. As long as you're walking through life holding your Heavenly Father's hand, what seems like you're wearing a blindfold will soon become clear. Take it step by step holding his hand as he will provide just enough light for this current step. Give yourself grace and remember that you're doing a great job.

I also just want to say once again that I'm so very grateful for each and every one of you that continue to follow me on this journey and read my blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! It seriously means the world to me.

I hope y'all have a wonderful last day of 2017. Madeline and I leave y'all with one last mommy and me look as we sparkle in the new year :) Overall, I'm thanking the Lord for an amazing 2017 and carrying us through each step of the way. There's so much to smile about and be thankful for. I'm excited to welcome in 2018. I have no idea what 2018 holds for both me and Madeline. But I know that I can trust it to the Lord, as I simply have to "be still."

"Be still, and know that I am God..."
~ Psalm 46:10 ~

Happy New Year, Friends!

If you're obsessed with leopard like I am, then I'm sure you understand why I love this bag so much! It's absolutely gorgeous! I leopard statement piece can do so much to so many looks. I'm always surprised at how a pop of leopard can complete an outfit.

Again, if you're planning on starting out the new year on a healthier routine with working out, new leggings are also a great way to get motivated. Zella is my all time favorite workout brand, and I'm obsessed with their leggings, especially. The high waist styles are too good to pass up. You'll seriously want to live in them! I love this color, as well.

There's so much that I love about this sweater. The sleeve details, the neckline and the color are all perfection! It's 35% off, making it under $50 on sale.

I always get so excited when I see Hunter boots on sale. You simply can't go wrong with an original glossy pair. What's even better is that the navy are on sale! My navy pair is probably my very favorite pair that I wear more than any other pair. They're 25% off.

I want this fleece vest...the. end. It looks so incredibly cozy and perfect for the chilly months ahead. Whether it's simply throwing it on with a workout look or wearing it with your favorite tee and denim to run errands, I think it would be a piece that I personally would get so much use out of. It's on sale for under $60!

Well, that's about it for my favorites. I honestly didn't even make it through all 100+ pages of sale goodies. I found all of this by like the 30th page and felt it was time to stop browsing haha. There are so many good things. Have you shopped the sale yet? If so, did you score anything good?

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello friends and happy Friday! I hope y'all had the merriest Christmas. It was by far the most special one yet over here, and Madeline enjoyed every single minute of it. I realize things have been a bit quiet on Something Delightful these past few days. The after-Christmas-slump definitely hit hard this year haha. I feel like I blinked and here we are with just a few days left of 2017. I can hardly believe it.

Anyways, I'm back today to share some outfit inspiration for New Years Eve. No matter what your plans may be, fancy or keeping things casual, I always feel it's necessary to sparkle in the new year. I absolutely fell in love with this sequin t-shirt dress the second I saw it. Unfortunately, it looks to already be sold out, but the good news is that there are a bunch of dresses that are very similar and just as gorgeous. This look is definitely a little more on the dressier side, even though it's a t-shirt dress. We always tend to keep tings casual around here for NYE. I always say that my family is who I want to end the current year and start the new one with. So with that, we always stick to a casual New Years Eve, which I've come to prefer :)

Since I usually dress more casually but still like to wear some sparkle, I thought it would also be fun to share a few pieces with y'all that would create a look for just that. I always end up wearing a sparkly, shimmery top with denim and pumps. And don't forget to add in some jewelry for an extra sparkle. Below, I'm going to share a few more dresses that are perfect for a dressier NYE, a few tops to pair with denim for a sparkly yet casual look, and some of my favorite glitzy baubles to top off the look.

Christmas Tree Farm + Christmas Traditions

Hello Friends and Merry Christmas Eve! I simply cannot believe that we are already to the day before Christmas. This Christmas season has flown by, it seems. There is so much excitement going around right now...seeing the joy of Christmas through Madeline's eyes honestly has brought back so many feelings of excitement that I felt for Christmas when I was little. It's crazy how that works :) Anyways, I have one last Christmas post for y'all. Here are some photos from our visit to Gay's Christmas Tree Farm. Visiting the tree farm has become a tradition for us. It's just so much fun to head out to the farm, see the trees everywhere, smell the amazing scents of the trees and experience the overall festivity of simply being there.

Speaking of traditions, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite family Christmas traditions with y'all:

1. Tea with Santa is a special event that my Mama, Madeline and I will now look forward to from here on out. Prior to this, it had been the tradition of having breakfast with Santa, but due to some change in plans this year, we actually ended up doing a tea with Santa. The funny thing is that we actually ended up enjoying Tea with Santa so much more, so it is now our new tradition that we will most definitely do again next year. It was such a special event! We even got to see snow during our trip for tea with Santa, which was so rare for this time of the year in Georgia. It made it even more special and something we will always remember.

2. As I mentioned above, visiting Gay's Christmas Tree Farm is a tradition for us, as well. It is something we look forward to each year! We started this when Madeline was a baby, and now it is a must. These past few weeks have been so busy that we almost didn't make it this year. But we stopped by on our way to dinner last week, and I'm so glad we did!

3. Making gingerbread houses is another new tradition for us! This is the first year that Madeline and I have made a gingerbread house and it most definitely won't be our last. We had so much fun getting creative with it and look forward to it again next year.

4. We always do a lot of Christmas baking right before Christmas. We did our baking for this year yesterday and had so much fun with it. Each year, we always make Rice Krispie treats, my Mama's amazing fudge and Reese's peanut butter cup cookies. This year, we added in a few new ones. We made some sugar cookies, and Madeline insisted on decorating them with snowflake sprinkles so that they would be "Elsa from Frozen" sugar cookies haha. We also made these adorable hot chocolate cup cookies, which turned out to be absolutely adorable and so yummy! They were so fun to make. We also made this holly crackle which was also delicious.

5. A right-before-Christmas visit from Santa is also something that my family does each year. This is a tradition that has been going back for as long as I can remember. It was years before my sister and I found out that it is one of our dear family friends that dresses up as Santa and comes to visit. Now, Madeline gets to enjoy the tradition which makes it even more special. The day he would come for a visit (and we never knew which day it was growing up), and we would sprinkle reindeer food (oats + glitter + sprinkles) outside to see if Santa's reindeer would spot it and bring Santa in for a visit. So much fun memories with this!

6. Attending the candlelight service at church on Christmas Eve is also tradition that I look forward to each year. There's something so special about sitting in church with the ones I love on Christmas eve evening with the lights dimmed, singing Christmas hymns and remembering the true reason for the season. There's simply nothing like it. The words from one of my favorites, "All is calm, all is bright..." are what comes to mind when I think of the Christmas Eve service.

7. Each year on Christmas Eve, my family gets together for a cheese fondue dinner. This is something they have been doing since before I was born. This year marks the thirty-seventh year my family has done this, to be exact. I remember growing up, I always hated cheese fondue, so my grandmother would have bagel bites for the kids to eat haha. Now, I love it and look forward to cheese fondue every single year!

8. Another Christmas Eve tradition that we do each year is listen to my dad read us The Night Before Christmas and the Christmas story from the book of Luke. It is so special hearing him read to us, and I look forward to it each year. After we read, we each get to open one present from under the tree.

9. On Christmas morning, we always have a Christmas brunch! We have a spread of the best breakfast casseroles, and my Mama always makes monkey bread (my favorite!). We take a break from present unwrapping and enjoy Christmas brunch before heading back to finish unwrapping presents.

I have to say that this year has by far been the most amazing Christmas season yet. Each year is so special, but there's simply something about this year that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I think it's because this year is the first that Madeline seems to understand everything that's going on, and my sentimental mama heart has been soaking up every single second of it. It has been so magical seeing the joy in her eyes and the excitement over Santa's long awaited visit. Seeing her believe is something so special, and I never want her to grow up.

What has been even more special is teaching her about the true meaning of the Christmas season. Each night before bed, Madeline and I read from her children's Bible storybook about the Christmas story. She has soaked it all in like a sponge, and hearing her interpretation of it simply melts my heart. I want her to know of the most precious, indescribable gift known to man...Jesus, and that is the very reason we celebrate Christmas. The greatest gift of all!

I truly believe that the joy of knowing Jesus and the traditions that I share with my family are what make the Christmas season such a joyous time for me. I cherish each and every minute that I have with my precious Madeline and what a blessing it is to watch her grow. Seeing the magic of Christmas through her eyes is has made it so very special. There's so much to be thankful for.

I'd absolutely love to hear about some of y'alls Christmas traditions that you share with your family :) From the bottom of my heart, I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas that allows you to cherish memories from past Christmases and create new ones to share with the ones you love. Merry Christmas, friends!

Dear Santa...

My Wish List - Something Delightful Blog

Dear Santa, I want it all! :) Hey friends and happy Thursday! Can y'all believe that we're only three sleeps away from Christmas Eve and only four away from Christmas?! This Christmas season as absolutely flown by. After sharing several gift guides with y'all this season, I thought it would be fun to do a little roundup of items that I'm wishing for (and dreaming of haha). I'll share a little bit about each of them next.

I love my Hunter boots so much. They are definitely a closet staple. I've had  many colors, but I've never had a black pair. I prefer the gloss over the matte finish. This black pair is currently 20% off! I may make these my Christmas gift to myself haha. This Gucci belt is my dream belt! I have a reversible Tory Burch belt that I absolutely love and wear all the time. But the Gicci one is definitely something I'd eventually love to have. I have heard so many great things about this cozy pullover and wold definitely love to have one for myself. This leopard clutch has been on my wishlist for forever, it seems. I love Clare V. pieces and know that I'd get a ton of use out of this clutch. Leopard is basically a neutral :) This eyeshadow palette looks amazing...I love a good warm palette. I immediately fell in love with these pink Nike training shoes. I mentioned this dot Burberry scarf in my post a few days back because it's probably the cutest one I've ever seen! My Mama and I both love it. I'm always down for a new piece of Yurman. I am in need of some new gold lamps for my nightstands and feel that this one would be perfect! When it comes to the perfect neutral pump, a pair of Louboutins are definitely my dream pair. There's just something about the classic red soles. These Julie Vos earrings are so gorgeous! I'm obsessed with this entire jewel tone collection. A chunky knit blanket has been on my list for a long time, but I could never justify paying the price for the full size. They're amazing, though! A new desk is probably at the top of my wish list. I absolutely love this one! My current hair dryer is starting to act a little wonky, and this T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i one is definitely the next one that I want to try! Not to mention, it's so pretty.

Well, that's about it! A girl can dress, right? :) But in all honesty, I have to say that I'm most excited to see the joy on Madeline's face this Christmas. That in itself is enough for this mama.

I hope y'all have a great Thursday! We're doing our annual family Santa night tonight. It's a tradition that we've been doing ever since my sister and I were little. I can't wait to see Madeline's excitement! We're currently making reindeer food in preparation for him to stop by. Reindeer for is simply oats, glitter and red and green sprinkles to sprinkle out for Santa's reindeer.

Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear what y'all have on your wish list!

Happy Wednesday, Friends! Last week, Madeline and I attended my Dad's annual Christmas luncheon, and of course we took that as a reason to get dressed up :) I was so excited to finally wear this darling plaid party skirt! I knew that I just had to have it, and my Dad's party was exactly what came to mind when deciding what to wear it to. I may also wear it on Christmas Eve. It absolutely screams Christmas, if you as me! I was originally going to pair it with a simple black or navy top, but then I found this gorgeous metallic cuff sweater and knew it would pair perfectly with this skirt. It just adds an extra amount of festivity. I also love the way it looks with jeans and a vest. It's under $60 and comes in two other colors.

I told Madeline that this dress she is wearing is her Santa dress, and of course she absolutely loved the thought of that! I adore this little piece because it is a ponte dress, making it so comfortable (great for kids!) yet still so easy to dress up in. The little faux fur collar simply makes it! And this dress also has the cutest little velvet bows on the sides.

I love getting dressed for the holidays. There's simply nothing like dressing for the Christmas season. I think Madeline may continue to wear her Christmas pieces the week after Christmas as well, because I love them so much haha.

I hope y'all are having a great week! It is flying by, for sure. I'll be sharing some of my favorite Christmas traditions later on this week, but I think we've added a new one this year...making gingerbread houses! I know this is something that most people do, but this year was the first that Madeline and I have made them. It was so much fun. We actually ended up making two. Madeline's is darling and decked in pink and gold candies. She calls it her "Princess Gingerbread House." Y'all may have seen a glimpse of it if you follow me on Instagram. Anyways, next up we'll be doing some Christmas baking! If y'all have any fun Christmas baking recipes you'd like to share with me, please do!

Have a great Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by.
