Hello friends and happy Wednesday! Along with styling this darling bow sleeve sweater dress and this amazing $34 faux fur vest, I thought it would be fun to do something different in honor of today being my birthday! Today I'm turning 25, so I'm going to share 25 random things that y'all didn't know about me. In all honesty, when I was thinking of these "facts", I realized just how difficult it was to come up with all of these. I saw a coffee mug over the weekend that said, "I'm a lot cooler on the internet" and there is a lot of truth to that haha. :) Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy reading these! 

1. I was homeschooled up until high school.

2. When I was in middle school, I was an avid antique collector and collected tons of sterling silver flatware. Seriously, I have cases and cases full of flatware! I knew how to hunt it down on eBay or the best prices and enjoyed visiting just about every antique store I could to hunt for more.

3. I have a phobia of birds. Seriously, it's bad! I can't get near them and can barely even look at them. The Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds is my worst nightmare. 

4. I am the middle child in my family. 

5. My favorite food is Chinese food. I would eat it every day, if I could.

6. The only part of my body that I've ever broken is my nose when I was like eight. I did it paying a game at church. It was so bad that I had to have surgery on it. 

7. I took ballet from the time I was three up until I was six-teen. It was my life, and I actually danced several lead roles for the studio I danced with. My favorite dancing memory was auditioning and getting a role with the Russian Nutcracker when they came to our city one year. I can't wait for Madeline to start ballet :)

8. When I was younger, my mama curled my hair every single day, so everyone always thought that I had naturally curly hair when it really is stick straight!

9. I'm always "fashionably" late :)

10. I can make a mean red velvet cake. I am actually really good at baking, but I'm still working on my cooking haha. 

11. When I was a child,  my dream was to one day be an author. I had notebooks on notebooks packed full with stories about all of my favorite toys. 

12. If I had to pick one other state to live in, it would hands down be Virginia. I love the state of Virginia. 

13. I got my ears pierced when I was nine, even though the rule was to wait until I was thirteen. My sister had to wait until she was thirteen, and because I got so mad, my mom decided to go ahead and let me get mine pierced a week after my sister got hers. She'll never let me live that one down! Sorry, Hannah :)

14. The number one thing that I craved throughout my pregnancy was ice. Specifically, Chick-Fil-A ice. And now, Madeline loves eating ice!

15. The only sport I've ever played is tennis. I took lessons all throughout high school. And my senior year, I decided to join the tennis team at school. I wasn't too good. In fact, I was so bad that they added a third doubles team so that I could play as a senior haha.

16. The only other pet I've ever had was a cat that my sister and I got when we were little girls. I named her "Miss Bunny."

17. One time, I got a concussion from hiking. It was for my environmental science class from high school. I fell on a rock on the way up the mountain and on a tree root on the way down, because I packed too much in my backpack. Overpacking has always been a problem haha. 

18. My favorite color now is pink, but when I was a little girl, I went through a phase where I was obsessed with the color orange. I wanted orange things and would only wear clothing with the color orange in it. 

19. I absolutely love to travel and have so many places that I want to visit when I get the opportunity to one day. 

20. Okay this is an embarrassing one. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I was obsessed with Juicy Couture...to an ridiculous extent. I wore the track suits, the charm bracelets, everything. It's actually how I came up with the name Jaycee for my dog. But don't get me wrong, even though I don't like Juicy anymore, I do still love the name Jaycee :)

21. I took piano lessons from the time I was five until I was a senior in college. But I haven't played since my senior piano recital. Hoping that I can just miraculously pick it up again some day :)

22. I have never liked watching TV. Now, the only things I watch are the things Madeline likes. 

23. I have changed my major three times throughout college, which is why I'm so late graduating. I'm so thankful with the way that the program I'm now pretty much fell in my lap when I was least expecting and when I needed it the most. I give all of the glory to God with the way it has all worked out. 

24. I have never liked to read. I get side tracked too easily and cannot follow along. It has to be a really good book for me to enjoy it. 

25.  My whole life, I have always hated coffee and peanut butter. But I started to love coffee last year and have become an avid coffee drinker. And this year, I started liking peanut butter and eat it every morning on toast for breakfast. Never say never, right? :)

Happy Tuesday, Friends! I'm currently typing up this post and listening to mine and Madeline's favorite Christmas song that we've been listening and dancing to non-stop, Christmas C'mon by Lindsey Stirling. Do yourself a favor and listen to it! It'd seriously the cutest Christmas song ever. Madeline currently says that it's her favorite song, and she's already learned pretty much every word to it haha. Anyways, I loved it so much once I heard it that I downloaded Lindsey's entire winter album and am seriously obsessed!

Okay now that I've ranted about my favorite song, let's get on to today's post. It has been technical difficulty after technical difficulty today, but without further adieu, I'm so excited to kick off my gift guides for 2017 with FIFTY gift ideas all under $50. Hello friends and happy Monday! I hope y'all had a great weekend. We're hitting the road for a long drive home today after spending several days in Virginia. Every year, we visit Williamsburg, and it is always so difficult to leave. There's just something about this place, and being a tradition of visiting here with the people I love so dearly makes it even more special. I look back on our visit last year and the year before and think about how much Madeline has changed from the past years to this year. While it makes me a little sad, I can only smile on the sweet memories I made with her once again this year. I also love being in Williamsburg during this time of the year because of how gorgeous everything is! The leaves are basically fall perfection, and everything feels so festive with Thanksgiving being this week and the Christmas season beginning as well. 

Now for a little bit on today's look. Speaking of festive, this dress is just that! It is absolutely stunning, and I could not rave over it enough. Y'all know how much I love a gorgeous burgundy, and burgundy paired with navy makes it even more irresistible, if you ask me. The two tone lace details are simply amazing! Whether you have a fancy Thanksgiving ahead and need a dressier look, or if you're needing a dress for upcoming Christmas festivities, this dress would be ideal. It's very reasonably priced, especially for the amazing details and the quality. It also runs true to size. I love it paired with navy pumps. The exact pair I'm wearing here are ones that I purchased last year, but I'm currently loving this pair

Happy Wednesday, Friends! Today's looks is featuring the coziest cardigan I've ever worn. It's fluffy and basically feels like a teddy bear. In fact, it's described as having having a teddy bear texture :) I love the gorgeous teal color and love it even more paired with brown. It's under $70 and would also make for the perfect gift to give someone who loves all the cozy things. Also, my skirt is a must-have! I love love love a good corduroy skirt. It does run small, so be sure to size up! And lastly, I love how this darling scarf ties the whole look together. This look would be so perfect for Thanksgiving. 

I hope y'all have a great Wednesday. We drove and drove all day yesterday and finally made it to Williamsburg, VA. It's so good to be here for a few days. I always feel like I can relax and unwind here, even though I'll be working and doing school pretty much the whole time :) It's such a gorgeous time of the year to be here! I love driving into town and seeing how quaint everything is. I feel like I've stepped into a little Dickens Village! And then in a different part there are the most amazing Premium Outlets with J.Crew Factory, a Vineyard Vines Outlet, a Janie and Jack Outlet and more.

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Who else is obsessed with chenille?! Now that it's finally cool enough, I've been wearing it just about every day. Not going to lie, I probably have purchased more chenille pieces than knits this year. I can't get enough. I see a chenille piece and am like "ooh I have to have it" haha. Anyways, I purchased this one a few weeks ago and was so sad to see that it's already sold out. BUT the good news is that it's available in an almost identical sweater! I have this one in pink, but the brown looks basically just like the one I'm wearing here. Also, I picked up this scarf from Old Navy a few weeks back (only $15) and love how it completes this look. And of course, it coordinates perfectly with Madeline's adorable pink cardigan. Also, I think that a jean mini skirt is something every little girl should have in her closet. It allows for such an easy, effortless way to put together an adorable outfit. It looks so cute paired with a sweater and tights for the fall and winter months. I love the little heart pockets on this one

I think I've mentioned this on here before, but I have never seen someone who loves fall leaves as much as Madeline. Everywhere we go, she has to collect up leaves when she sees a vibrant yellow, red or orange one. When we were taking these pictures, she was on a mission to find the brightest red one haha (see the last picture in this post...examining the leaf haha). Her spunk and precious personality always add so much joy to life. I'm so grateful that I get to be her mama.

We're heading out of town tomorrow, so I visited Sephora over the weekend to stock up on some of my favorites with the sale going on. Of course, I came home with a few other amazing goodies to try. I thought today would be the perfect day to share some of the things I picked up + a few other products that I love. 


This item was a re-stock for me. I have been using it for about three years now and go back to it every single time. I love the glow it adds to your skin. It hydrates and is just pretty much amazing. I could not recommend this one enough!


This product is new to me. I usually stick to a tinted moisturizer, but after receiving a sample of this foundation and using it for about a week, I fell in love with it! I went in over the weekend to purchase a full bottle. However, I think the color I got matched up for is a bit off. I'll update this post when I know I have the right color. Overall, it is an amazing product. My favorite thing about it? It lasts allllll day and applies so smoothly!


I have been using this product for about three months now. I love it so much! I actually replaced my contouring kit with it and use it as a contour. I pretty much love Laura Mercier products and feel like I use them overall more than anything. 


This lipstick is amazing! I'm always looking for one that will last for a long time without feeling dried onto my lips, and this one is great. I got it in the color "Staunch" and it's the perfect pink/nude shade.


Okay if this product doesn't speak for itself, I don't know what does. This is probably the purchase that I'm most excited to share with y'all! I don't think I have ever seen a more amazing holiday set. For $59 you get a large selection of eye shadows, a full size mascara and eye liner, blushes, bronzers, highlighters and a lip gloss (a $433 value). If not for yourself, this would also make an amazing gift! And think about this: you could travel with this set, and the only other thing you'd need to bring is a foundation and powder. It is truly an amazing set. 


I have been using this highlighter for about six months now, and it is by far the most beautiful and amazing highlighter I've ever used. I have tried 10+ highlighters, and this one beats all of the others by far! I use it in the shade "moonstone". It adds the most gorgeous shimmering touch. 


I'm a huge fan of translucent setting powders. I've tried a few, but decided to give this one a try since I love Laura Mercier products so much. So far, I love it!


This is also a new product I'm trying. I have been hooked on the Tarte Shape Tape concealer and could not say enough good things about it. But Sephora does not carry it (it's exclusive to Ulta). I got the Lock-It Concealer simply because I was at Sephora and had a coupon and also because someone said it was a similar product. Overall, it is great and I do like it. The coverage is amazing! But I think that I may still be sold on the shape tape and will definitely re-purchase that one again next time. 


This liner is hands down my favorite. Ever! I have tried several, but this one is amazing. It is a liquid liner and allows you to apply it so smoothly and evenly! I get a perfectly straight line every time. I keep going back to it. 


This brow pencil is also one that I've started using within the past several months. I replaced it with the brow pencil by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I liked that one, but after a few weeks of using it, the brush would always break off. So, I decided to give this one a try since I love IT Cosmetics so much. And it is amazing!!! It is so easy to use. Also, the universal taupe color is the most brilliant thing ever. I have darker brows naturally, so it works great for me. But my Mama has very light blonde brows, and it works great for her as well, being a universal taupe. 


This hairspray! It is my favorite hairspray of all time! It's a strong finish, but you can still move your hair around without it feeling stuck. I'm a huge fan of Bumble and bumble products. In fact, they're all I use. Along with the hairspray, I use the repair blow dry, the tonic lotion and the turf foam spray. They're all amazing and all on sale with this event!

And one last thing that is not pictured but I simply have to mention: my curling wand that I use to get my curls is on sale! It's a bit pricey, so being able to get it on sale is amazing. It comes with three attachments, and I use the 1 inch barrel to get my curls. It has to be one of the best investments I've even made. 

I hope this post has given y'all some other products to try, if you've been looking for some. It's great to be able to get them on sale as makeup can add up so quickly and cost a fortune, it seems. I always tend to run out of everything at the same time, as well. Am I the only one?! Also, it's definitely not too early to start Christmas shopping for all of the beauty lovers on your list :)

Hey friends and happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing one of my favorite ways to layer pieces for fall. Whether it's vests, scarves, jackets, cardigans, or whatever, fall is the perfect time to play around with layering. I would normally pair a pullover like this over jeans, but I absolutely love the way it looks paired over a skirt as it is something a bit different from the usual. This cowl neck pullover offers so many styling options. I also adore it layered over jeans. It's under $100 and so cozy! I also have to mention this tee I'm wearing underneath it. It's the perfect basic white tee! It has the cutest lace-up details in the front, so it works well layered underneath pieces like this or styled alone with a scarf. My skirt is also a perfect basic for fall and is now on sale for $56.
