Happy Tuesday, Friends! I was just talking yesterday about the past two years to Jaclyn, and we both agreed on one thing; so much has changed. I am a mama and she is getting married this year. It is crazy to think about how much change change can bring about. When reflecting on it at first (before it has actually come into your life...the beginning stages), we would tend to describe it with words such as scary, intimidating, or feeling fearful of it. Or maybe we would describe change as exciting, waiting for a new adventure to occur. Nonetheless, I think we can all agree that with change comes uncertainty. This is something that has taken me a long time to learn from.
What Have I Learned?
What I have learned from change is resting in the fact that it is from God. Overall, it is a reason to trust in Him. It is a time to feel His presence in a whole new way. I can honestly say that with the change God brought into my life, I have seen His blessings unfold in ways I never imagined and my walk with Him has grown in ways I never knew it could. I believe God wants us look on a period of change as something new from Him. The verse I have listed below was a huge lesson on change for me. There are two new outlooks I took from it. One, we are told to not dwell on the past. I don't know about y'all, but this is so much easier said than done for me. I'm not just talking about things that have happened that are difficult to forget. I also feel this on times that I wish I could relive, for instance the first time I laid eyes on Madeline. I think on that and what a blessing it has been experiencing her grow every step of the way, but then again, I think on what a joy she is now, this very moment, and I see how this is another reason to not dwell on the past. If I do that, then I'll miss out on joy that comes with her right now. And secondly, I read the sentence, "See, I am doing a new thing!" What caught my eye with this sentence is the punctuation. I re-read that sentence with excitement! I then began to reflect on the new things God has done in my life! With that, I felt a peace and assurance that no matter what kind of change comes about, God is working a new thing!
What new thing is God doing in your life? How are you accepting it? Are you fearful of it, not wanting to move forward, or are you going to say, "Lord, I trust in you with this new thing you are doing in my life."? Remember this, God has chosen YOU to go through with this change, and He wants you to run the race He has marked out for you, fixing your eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:1-2)
