Denim & Stripes

Dress: Chicwish ℅ // Denim Jacket: J.Crew // Flats: Nordstrom // Bag: Tory Burch // Necklaces: J.Crew & J.Crew Factory

Happy Friday, Y'all!  I am so excited to break out a denim jacket.  Although it's still too warm to actually wear it, I just love the way it looks with this dress and wanted to style it for this post.  This dress from Chicwish is the perfect piece to transition you into fall.  I also love that you could wear it without the denim jacket and pair it with pumps for a dressier look.  I think a denim jacket is a must have!  I am hoping that in a month or so, the weather will be perfect to actually wear it and I can't wait! I plan on doing a posts soon on a few of my must have items for fall, but a denim jacket is at the top of the list, because it's a huge help in transitioning into the fall season.  Be sure to check out Chicwish for some other great transition pieces!

I hope y'all have a great weekend!  I'm hoping to catch up on a few things.  I have had an ongoing to-do list this week.  I keep checking things off, but I feel like for every item I check off, two things are added to the list.  Madeline has gotten to where she loves to play with her toys while doing tummy time on the Boppy pillow.  It's great because I can sit next to her with my computer and get a few things done, and it is also so fun to watch her play :)  Hopefully it will be a productive weekend!

(Pine)apple Of My Eye

Sweater: Vineyard Vines ℅ // Shorts: J.Crew Factory // Bag: Nordstrom (It's reversible!) // Necklace: J.Crew Factory // Shoes: Zappos // Watch: Kate Spade

I love love love a good pineapple print!  This pineapple sweater from Vineyard Vines is the definition of perfection.  The temperatures are still warm, but the humidity was been way down this week (making it feel cooler), so I decided to break it out and wear it.  I can't wait to pair it with denim and layer it with a oxford shirt once the weather gets cool.  I'm starting to get fall fever!  I think it's mainly because I am just so sick and tired of the heat.  It's been too hot to take Madeline on walks, so I look forward to picking that up again.

What gets you excited for fall?

Happy Tuesday, friends!  A word I have been thinking on recently is the word "abide."  This word is one that was recently focused on in discussion on the First5 App by Proverbs 31 Ministries (If you don't have this app, I highly recommend it!).  What does the word abide mean?  It means to remain. Life can be so busy.  Before Madeline was born, I always found time (at about the same time every day) to open my Bible and read…to have my devotions and quite time.  Now, if I get my quite time, it's never  at the same time each day.  Hearing the word "abide" discussed truly hit home for me.  Abiding in the Lord means to incorporate Him into each and every part of your life, all day, every day…whether it be while you're taking a shower, driving, at school, at work, etc.  Invite Him into every aspect.

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."

~John 15:4 ~

I pray that God will give me wisdom, strengthen my heart, and give the peace that only He can give.  I find this by abiding in Him.  That is how I run this race He has marked out for me with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1-2).  I can only do this with His help. and I find that by simply remaining in Him.

If life has you feeling overwhelmed, the Lord understands!  He understands your every thought, so give it all to Him as you abide in Him.

Stripes

Dress: ASOS // Necklace: J.Crew & Anthropologie (Both sold out) // Flats: J.Crew // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff  // Watch: Daniel Wellington ℅

Happy Monday, y'all!  I love having a pair of red shoes in my closet.  I purchased this pair of red pointed toe flats from J.Crew and have loved them!  I'm trying to break them in before the cooler weather arrives, because I know I will be wanting to wear them all the time!  I find it so difficult to break flats in.  I feel like some never break in and always rub the backs of my heels.  If you have any suggestions on a great way to break flats in, please share it with me!

Also, I love this watch from Daniel Wellington!  It offers the classic DW look but with a bit of bling.  It is a watch you will wear all. the. time.  Use the code "SOMETHINGDELIGHTFUL" on Daniel Wellington to save 15% off your  purchase.

Weekend Wrap Up

I hope y'all have had a great week.  I wanted to do a little weekend wrap-up.  I feel like it has been a productive week all while adding school back to my plate.  What have I learned this week?  I was thinking about my time management, and it's funny.  Although I am a mama now and Mine and Madeline's schedule can be so wacky, I've actually learned to manage time so much better than before I was a mama.  This week proved that for me.  My mindset is always on Madeline, so I know what has to be done for her no matter what and what's best for her.  I think this has happened by me allowing just a certain amount of time to do the little things (like taking a shower while she naps and such).  And I've also learned to cut out all the silly things in life that I'd waste too much time on before I was a mama.  Motherhood is just the most amazing job ever.  You learn so much in such a short amount of time.  And I get to do it all for such a precious baby girl.

There are two things I have to say about what I'm wearing in this picture: Chew Beads & Baby Carrier.  This is how I do just about everything these days.  Madeline always wants to be held (I'm not complaining because there is nothing I'd rather do that snuggle her).  But I have tried so many different seats for her, and this is a winner because she can be so close to me, and I can use both hands.  And chew beads?  I never thought I would give in and buy these.  But I did, and it ended up being a great decision.  She's gotten to where she loves to hold on to my necklaces (and tries to put them in her mouth).  So I wear chew beads around the house, and Madeline loves them.

Here's one final thought, and I'll leave y'all with this: There are so many times when I find myself feeling weary and wondering if I can "just make it through." But God knows what is best, when we need it, and how to bring it about.  He is faithful through and through.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far!

Beach With Vineyard Vines

Dress: Vineyard Vines ℅ // Sandals: Tory Burch // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Madeline's Outfit: Vineyard Vines ℅

Here's another fun shoot we did on our past beach trip.  As you can see in the photos, Madeline just loved to put her tiny toesies in the sand.  She would stomp around, and it was really the cutest thing!  I never knew Vineyard Vines had such darling outfits for babies until now.  This little fish printed outfit Madeline is wearing is a favorite of mine!  And don't forget about Vineyard Vine's "Whales For A Cause" campaign currently going on.  If you decorate a whale that will accompany your VV package (see mine and Madeline's whale here) and share it on Instagram with #whalesforacause, Vineyard Vines will donate a lunch to a child in need.  This is such an awesome campaign, and I've loved seeing all of the artistically decorated whales on Instagram.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!

Skirt The Rules

Top: Chicwish ℅ // Skirt: Chicwish ℅ // Heels: Nordstrom // Necklace: Kate Spade // Bag: Kate Spade // Bracelet: Kate Spade

Hello friends!  Just playing dress up over here (and skirting the rules) in this gorgeous midi skirt from Chicwish.  I have always wanted to style a skirt like this.  I think this would be the perfect look to wear to a semiformal event.  I will definitely have my eye on another skirt this style for the upcoming holidays in the months to come. I felt so Kate Spade-esque in this skirt, but can't believe it's only $42!  This blush pink top pairs so nicely with it, because I'm a sucker for navy paired with blush pink.  It will also be the perfect top for many other outfits, offering endless style possibilities.  Chicwish has so many gorgeous midi skirts in all different patterns, prints and colors.  See a few of my other favorites below.

Which one is your favorite?

God Confidence

Happy Tuesday, Y'all!  There's a phrase my Aunt told me a while back that has meant a lot to me.  The more I've thought about it, the more it has grown to be meaningful in areas of my life.  Of course it is so important to have self confidence, but have you ever thought about the idea of having "God confidence"?  Well, when you think about it and fully grasp the meaning, it is a powerful thing to have.  My Aunt and I chatted about it for a while the other day, and I just wanted to share.

God confidence is being able to be confident in God's promises.  It's being confident of who you are in Christ Jesus.  I know for me, sometimes it is easy to become so confident in myself, my own thoughts and trust in my own abilities that I begin to leave God out.  But then, something will bring me back to remembering where my confidence truly comes from.  I have learned this over the years…there are people who will try to take away your self confidence (if you let them!!) but no one can take away your confidence in God.  No one can take away the comfort and promises you find in Him.  Something I always remind myself of is not to depend on what people think or say but what God's promises say and then relate them to my life.  It is so reassuring to know that there is always comfort and guidance to be found in Jesus.  I try so hard to be prepared and in control of what will happen in life, but I'm quickly reminded of who is in control of my life.  Trusting in God and believing in His promises brings a confidence that  no one can take away from you.

Here are a few of the verses that I find so much confidence in:

Lilly Girls

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer // Madeline's Dress: Lilly Pulitzer // Shoes: Franco Sarto // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Necklace: Bauble Bar

Happy Monday, Y'all!  I hope this post brightens your day a little bit.  I'm super excited to be sharing it, because this is Madeline's first Lilly shift dress!  She looks so darling in it that I could just eat her up!  It arrived on Thursday as a huge surprise from her Aunt Jaclyn.  Jaclyn recently moved to Chattanooga to start a job (and got engaged!!), and although we are so happy and excited for her, we have been missing her greatly.  She sent Madeline her first baby Lilly shift, and what a special surprise it was.  I guess we could say that she's officially a Lilly girl :)

Also, today (through tomorrow) is your chance to get Lilly for the best prices ever, because the After Party Sale has begun!  Many of these gorgeous Lilly pieces you've been eyeing all summer long are super on sale.  Over the past few years, while the sale always ends up being wonderful, it sometimes is a headache to shop because so many people are shopping on the site that is runs super slow or even crashes.  To avoid that this year, Lilly has set up the shopping experience on a first come first serve basis.  When you enter the sale, you will be placed in a "virtual line" to shop.  As always, items in your cart are not reserved, so I suggest to have an account with Lilly set up ahead of time. If you don't already have an account set up, here's the link to do that.

Happy shopping and be sure to let me know what goodies you snagged from the sale.

*A little shopping update: The virtual line was very long (to say the least haha). I got in it at 8 AM sharp and seeing that my estimated wait time was over an hour, I left my computer and came back to find out it had already let me on the sale and when I clicked to shop, it put me back in the virtual line?…so after waiting in the line a second time, I was able to shop.  My size was gone in so many things that I liked, but I was able to grab a baby shift for Madeline and a few cashmere sweaters to carry into fall.  I plan to wear them over dresses and over tops paired with denim and riding boots once the weather cools down.  Did you do some shopping? What items did you grab?

Beachin' It With Baby

This was Madeline's face the second she felt the sand on her toesies :)

She loved stomping her feet in the sand.

Jaycee is so cautious around Madeline still!  She doesn't realize that she's just as delicate as Madeline is haha.

Sun hats (with bows) are a must!

My little water baby loves the pool!

Ferry Ride over to dinner (at a restaurant we later found out was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives).

Madeline: Swimsuits: 1 / 2 / 3 // Sun hats: 1 / 2 // Headbands: 1 / 2
Me: Cover Up: ASOS (sold out) // Swimsuit: Anthropologie (sold out) // Sun hats: 1 / 2 // Top: ASOS // Shorts: J.Crew Factory // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (70% off!)

I just had to give a little re-cap of our beach trip last weekend.  We spent a few days on Amelia Island.  It was Madeline's second time at the beach.  I took her to the beach the first time when she was two months old and this past time at four months old.  I have to say that I felt like four months was such a fun time to have her at the beach!  I have always been a beach girl…I'd spend so much of my day on the beach reading and just enjoying everything the beach has to offer.  I knew it would be different with a baby, but for someone who spent that much time actually on the beach, it was more different than I even imagined.  Both beach trips this summer, Madeline and I spent most of our time hanging out in the condo with just a few, short trips to the beach/pool.  I don't want her in the sun, and she gets fussy after being out for a certain period of time. I was told by many that her skin was too sensitive for sunscreen, but after hearing positive results with the natural baby sunscreen from The Honest Company, I decided to give it a shot.  Her skin did just fine, and I felt so much better knowing she had some protection even though we stayed under a sun umbrella on the beach and in a shaded area when sitting at the pool.  She was so adorable this past trip at the beach.  She loved the sand and especially loved dipping her toesies in at the waters edge.  She is so vocal and is always chattering and making some sort of noise.  It just makes my heart melt.  It is so much fun watching her discover the world around her.

I was so thankful to have a few more days at the beach.  This has been the best summer of my life having my sweet Madeline around.  School starts back next week, and although I am grateful that I'm able to take many of my classes online so that I can be with Madeline, I'm not looking forward to throwing something else into my (nonexistent) routine.  But I know it will all be worth it in the end.  There is no greater feeling than being a mama, and my heart is just gleaming with joy knowing that I am the mama to such a precious girl.  God is so good! :)

Thank you so much for reading and I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Delightfully Yours,
