Twists & Scallops

Oxford: Kiel James Patrick, Shorts: Club Monaco, Bag: Kate Spade Outlet, Bracelets: Kiel James Patrick (1 / 2), Necklace: J.Crew, Belt: Kiel James Patrick

After a long day of classes and work, my hair has usually had it.  I've tucked my bangs behind my ear, leaving a crimp, or it has gotten frizzy is usually the case.  After work is the time I like to take my blog pictures, meaning my hair needs a serious refresher!  I usually end up re-straightening it or simply twisting it up to an up-do.  Not only is my hair out of the way and off my shoulders, but it also looks effortless.  I have thin hair, so luckily, an up-do only takes about four bobby pins for me.  I love playing with different hair styles!  My hair doesn't curl the best, so up-do's are definitely my go-to look.

Do you have a go-to hairstyle to tame a bad hair day?

Transition With Stripes

Tunic (Worn as a dress): Anthropologie, Necklace: Kendra Scott, Shoes, J.Crew, Bag: Kate Spade Outlet, Bracelets: Loren Hope

Say hello to the perfect transition piece!  I always think ahead when July rolls around and begin my search for a few transition pieces to help carry through that awkward month when we anticipate fall weather.  It's a constant feeling of "what on earth am I going to wear" in September, for me at least.  I dread the transition period, but I keep on looking forward to fall (aka puffer vests, riding boots…I'm so excited)!  Here are a few other transition dresses that I'm loving.

Lacey Days

Top: Piperlime, Skirt: J.Crew (old), Bag: Tory Burch, Shoes: J.Crew, Bracelets: KJP, Loren Hope, Necklace: Banana Republic (old), Earrings: Kendra Scott

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  It's been a tiring week, and it's been a weekend I've been looking forward to all week.  My new class schedule/work schedule hit me, and it has been exhausting to say the least.  I'm so ready for fall, and this 100 degree weather has been a struggle.

You know that feeling of trying to fit everything in?  Yes, that's what I've been feeling mostly this week.  I finally found time to squeeze a hair appointment into today (thank goodness).  My hair needed a refresher after two months.   I feel renewed haha.  Oh and if you're looking for cute transitioning into fall tops, check out Sunday in Brooklyn!

Southern Style

Top: C.Wonder, Shorts: Loft, Necklace: Loren Hope, Bracelet: Loren Hope ℅, Bag: Tory Burch

Happy Wednesday, Friends!  I was feeling creative with this outfit and thought it would be perfect to take these pictures in front of Lookaway Hall to give it a southern twist.  The top I'm wearing in this post has been a go-to.  I've paired it with skirts and shorts or all different materials, patterns, and styles.  Also, the TB York Tote is a new favorite of mine!  I purchased it last week and have yet to change out of it.  It seriously goes with everything and holds so much (and I purchased the small one!).

I still can't believe a new semester has started.  I'm not feeling the school routine, and am already working on a new technique to balance everything!  Last night, I spent a good while putting documents in (cute) files and notebooks, just so that I can organize for each class, because organization is key. If you didn't see my Amy Ruth Designs post on fun supplies, you can read it here.  You must see these, because you can shop Amy Ruth Designs and save 25% off your entire purchase by using the code apreppystate25 at checkout.

Newport Snapshots

Outfit #2: Top, Shorts, Necklace, Bracelet, Bag
Outfit #3: Tunic (Worn as a dress, since I'm 5'2), Shoes
Outfit #4: Top, Skirt, Necklace, Boots
Outfit #5: Dress, Bag, Phone Case

I'm back to blogging after taking a week break.  Last week, I traveled to Newport, Rhode Island to visit Sarah Vickers and Brighton Keller.  We had such a fun time!  I absolutely love Newport and the beauty the Ocean State holds.  The sunsets, the water, the boats…the scenery was just beautiful.

I loved visiting the Castle Hill Lighthouse and having lunch with Sarah and Brighton on the lawn at Castle Hill Inn.  The lobster rolls there were to die for!  I feel like I ate lobster everything on my trip (lobster rolls, lobster ravioli, lobster mac and cheese, lobster everything), and I'm so happy I did!  Castle Hill lighthouse was an amazing place to visit as well!

Sarah and Kiel took us to so many great places to eat!  The first night, we ate at the Safari Restaurant at OceanCliff.  After dinner, we were able to get a snapshot of the super moon.  It was just gorgeous that night!

I think the highlight of my trip was visiting the Kiel James Patrick Factory.  It is seriously so amazing to see.  All of the hard work that Sarah and Kiel have put into Kiel James Patrick is simply incredible, and it was something to see in the factory.  Words can not describe how fabulous it is.

We got to experience a gorgeous Newport sunset driving over the bridge back to Newport.  Kiel pulled over, and we were able to get a few pictures.  It seriously looked like a painting!

I enjoyed some shopping in Newport.  Although the shopping isn't Newbury Street, I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I ended up purchasing the Tory Burch Small York Tote and it was a great decision as I have been using it ever since…definitely a go-to bag!  Brighton and I enjoyed chatting over lattes and pastries on a rainy morning in Newport.

We also ate dinner at Sky Bar at the Clarke Cooke House in Newport.  I absolutely loved the atmosphere with all the pink and green.  Loren Hope and her husband joined us for dinner.  I was so happy to finally get to meet her as she is such a sweet, delightful person and SO talented too.

I will never forget the fun time I had in Newport.  Blogging has brought about so many great opportunities, but I'm especially thankful for the friends I have made and connected with.  A huge thanks so Sarah for inviting me up for a visit.  But, I always love coming home to a warm welcome from Jaycee.  She has her a shirt from The Black Dog now.

I hope everyone has a great start to a new week.  School starts back for me today (boo).  It's still so hot out, and it just feels ridiculous to be getting back into classes.  I never mind a change in routine, though :)

Also, be sure to shop the Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale today through the 20th!  It's the best opportunity you will ever have to stock up on some lilly!  See my picks below.

Polka Dots & A Printed Top

Top: Piperlime (Love this top, it's super on sale!), Shorts: Club Monaco (Extra 40% off sale price with code summersale), Necklace: Kendra Scott, Earrings: Kendra Scott, Bangles: Bourbon & Boweties, Clutch: Tory Burch (Older Style)

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Here's to wrapping up a very busy week.  On top of working all week, I'm so happy to have finished up my internship (officially done as of yesterday).  It's also Spirit Week with my chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, so it's been a busy week of balancing things, to say the least.  Next week I'll be traveling, and I'm so excited!  It's my last full week of summer, so I am going to enjoy it.  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! It's been a rainy one, but I won't complain because it's an excuse to wear Hunter Boots :)
