Sale! Sale! Sale!

Happy biggest shopping day of the year!!  I hope today you'll check off a lot of Christmas shopping so that you can better enjoy the Christmas season.  There are some fabulous sales today that you won't want to miss.

I am not the type that likes to get out and fight the black Friday crowds.  Nope, that's not for me.  Confession: There is a Kate Spade factory store 10 minutes from where I am in Virginia, so my Mama and I did venture out last night.  The stores opened at 8 PM, so we were like "Hey, why not!"  It was our first actual black Friday experience, but it really was so fun!  So, if you are near the factory stores and you feel like shopping them in the crowds, I say go for it!  Kate Spade factory was doing 50% off plus an extra 20% off your entire purchase when I was there.  J.Crew Factory was doing 50% off which was nice, but I felt that it wasn't much better than the sales you catch online.  Also, there was a Brooks Brothers factory, and they were doing 40% off your entire purchase.  I wish I had pictures of some of the darling items I scored, especially the adorable kelly green with ivory polkadots sweater I found in Brooks Brothers.
Okay, now back to the cyber shopping!  I know these sales can get overwhelming, I know I'm overwhelmed!  But I'm here to help.  Today, I'm outlining some of the best sales, along with some of my favorite items from the sales, so consider this your black Friday-cyber Monday shopping guide.

Although Thanksgiving is over, I want to share my outfit.  I picked it out from the Jack Wills store when I visited Boston and have been so excited to wear it ever since.  I thought the pheasant and the colors were so fitting for Thanksgiving, especially knowing that I'd be spending it in Williamsburg, Virginia.  This was the first year my family and I celebrated Thanksgiving away from home.  One thing that is for sure, when you spend the holiday with the ones you love, it will always be special.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Wishes

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving today!  I'm excited to be spending it in Williamsburg, Virginia with my family.  I'm so thankful to be here and have this day with them.  Something else I'm thankful for is that even though it didn't stick, it snowed last night!  The snow lasted for just a few short minutes, but it was very exciting to a person who hasn't seen snow in three years.
Here's a cute way to dress turkey's these days!
Even though I'm not home and can't make pies for Thanksgiving, these are still on my list to make.  You can be so creative with pies! Did you get festive with pie making this year?

Now, every year, I like to list a few things I'm thankful for.  The difficult part about this is most definitely keeping my list to a "few" things.  There is truly so much to be thankful for.  It is so easy to become discouraged with the happenings and stress life can bring about.  Even though what there is to be thankful for greatly outweighs the annoying little things we may not be thankful for, the "thankful for" list can be easily overlooked on an everyday basis.  I feel like I'm at a time in my life where everything is a test.  It seems to be a time where not only decisions play a huge role, but also where the test of "if I can do it" comes into play quite often.  Well, even though things don't always go the way I'd want them to, I am thankful for the lessons I've learn from them and the ways I've grown.

When I look back on myself this time last year, so much has changed.  Last year, I never imagined the way things would be this year.  But then again, I'm thankful as I know the Lord works in our lives and has everything happen for a reason.

Now, let me try to list a few things that I'm so thankful for.  My family, of course. has been here for me with everything. That is why they fall at the top of my list.  My Mama is always something to be most thankful for.  As I've grown older, I not only see the guidance I have in her, but also the forever friend she is.  I'm thankful for my Jaycee.  Even though she can't talk, I most definitely talk to her and she always seems to understand.  I'm so thankful for my friends…not only the ones who always stand by me, but also for the many new friendships I've made this year.  I'm thankful for the opportunities that have come about this year.  One, my job at The White Crane is something I love, which is so important.  After school, I know that I can actually look forward to going into work and seeing people that make me smile.  I'm so thankful for my blog and every single one of my readers who take the time to visit it.  This is something I started to simply share my thoughts and ideas…a fun pastime.  Since it is just over a year old, this year has brought about so many opportunities that I'm so thankful for.  I'm thankful for all of the valuable lessons I've learned this year and the ways that I have been able to grow as a person. This list could go on and on, so I better stop here and just say…I'm thankful.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.
{Psalm 107:1}

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Dressing For Class!

When I dress for class, I make sure to dress with class.  My signature class outfit goes something like this: A sweater with an oxford button down underneath, my favorite denim, and riding boots.  Oh, and don't forget the accessories!

Here are some other sweaters I'm loving right now!

Happy Feet!

Happy feet are cozy feet!  This week is forecasted to be a cold one here!  On Tuesday, I'll be making my way to Virginia for Thanksgiving, so it will be even colder there.  I am most excited, because I love the cool weather, but I hate to have cold feet.  I can't tell you the thrill I get when walking in the cold air to class, feeling the coolness on my face, while having warm and cozy feet inside of my boots.  There are seriously some of the most adorable socks out right now!  I say make your sock collection fun with some of these cute novelty socks.  Get printed…get festive…have happy feet!

Confetti Balloons And Party Attire

Dress: Modcloth
Necklace: Kate Spade
Bracelets: Kate Spade, Loren Hope

What a delightful birthday I had.  It was definitely one of the best, if not the best, birthday.  These pictures were taken before my party.  I did make the DIY confetti balloons.  They were a mess to make as there was confetti everywhere!  But hey, is was a celebration, so the confetti fit right in.  You now see the party dress I chose.  I am very happy with my decision.  I loved it for my birthday, but I also know that I'll be able to wear it again throughout the Christmas season.  I have to admit that my shoes made me quite happy as well.  It was a fabulous day from beginning to end, and I'm so thankful for my family, friends, and Jaycee who made it special.

Birthday Memory!

I'm so excited!!! Today is my birthday, and although I'm celebrating I am also looking back and remembering my favorite birthday memories.  There are so many happy things to remember, but I think my favorite of all has to be the present I received for my birthday two years ago.  What could that be?  None other than Jaycee.
My mama and I picked her up two days before my birthday.  She was so teeny tiny (1.2 lbs) at the time.  She was so scared, but quickly adjusted to her new home and knew that she was loved oh so much.
I live everyday knowing that I have the joy and love from a sweet little pup and it seriously makes my heart so happy.  Jaycee can tell when I'm sad and knows just how to cheer me up.  Coming home everyday to her acting like she hasn't seen me in a year is the best feeling in the world.  I simply don't know what I would do without my darling Jaycee, and I thank the Lord for her each and every day.  So, now always on my birthday, I not only celebrate my birthday, but I also celebrate the best decision I every made…and that is adopting Jaycee.

Do you have a favorite birthday memory?

Birthday Bliss

Continuing on with my birthday excitement, I have been looking at Pinterest and have found brilliant (and very sparkly) birthday DIYs.  One I'm going to try is Confetti Balloons.
You can find the DIY here!
How darling is this glittery pink cake!
I guess this explains how looking at birthday pins on Pinterest can easily have one excited for their birthday.
Also, I found the perfect birthday shoes from Anthropologie.  I think they will be lovely paired with my party dress.  These velvet bow pumps will be thoroughly enjoyed.  Let's just say, it was love at first sight.

The birthday excitement continues on!

Rainy Day Activity

My very favorite rainy day activity, or any time I have some free time activity, is to paint canvases.  I simply paint whatever I feel inspired by at the moment.  I also like to write down all my ideas (possible another idea for a journal use?), and when I find the time,  I see if any of these still spark my interest to paint them.  I paint just for the enjoyment of it.  It's a great way to express yourself and what is inspiring you!  I love to paint items by my favorite brands.  I think that the reason I enjoy doing this so much is because even though they're a very "loose interpretation" of the item, they're simple and unique in their own way.
Here are the two I painted on this past rainy Sunday:

What's your favorite rainy day activity?

Sunshine Vinyl Giveaway

I'm so excited to be teaming up with my very favorite vinyl sticker shop, Sunshine Vinyl!  Sarah, the owner of Sunshine Vinyl, has some of the most adorable vinyl stickers imaginable (the monogrammed whale, for instance).  There are so many darling and unique stickers on this Etsy shop, and I had so much fun deciding where and what to monogram.
Sarah has decided to do something special for the followers of A Preppy State of Mind.  One lucky winner will receive the following:
A monogrammed changeable background iPhone case which includes four changeable backgrounds and the monogrammed case
A set of two monogrammed stadium cups
And a fabulous set of stickers:
2" sticker (circle or vine, solid color only)
iPhone charger wrap (circle, chevron, or scalloped)
4" sticker (circle, vine, or Greek letters)
3" Bow sticker (circle or vine)

Seriously, who doesn't love monogrammed vinyl stickers.  This is just another great way to stick to one of the mottos of life, "If it's not moving, monogram it!"  Also, vinyl stickers are ideal stocking stuffers!
